Summer 2022

This season looks very strong (more than last season). I hope there are not disappointments, so let’s see what Summer brings.

S Tier:

A Tier:

B Tier: Lycoris Recoil; Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo

C Tier:

D Tier:

E Tier:

The ranking system should be something like this:

S Tier: They are very enjoyable, easy to watch (understand), for general public and potentially best anime of the season/year
A Tier: In here, I’ll have 2 groups: all the animes that are very good but not enough for S Tier and all those that are potentially or are S Tier but they have a specific theme to make it enjoyable (eg: cooking, military, science, or some knowledge needed before) but obviously this will based on my decision.
B Tier: I’d put anything here that is good and good for killing some time.
C Tier: The art, animation or story is good (as minimum) but it’s so so, Regular
D Tier: Lower than regular
E Tier: The trash tier

Review: Dragon Quest – Dai no Daibouken (2020) 79 ~ 100

These episodes were pretty much about the fight against the last boss and the mini bosses with episode 100 being the last episode of the series.

After 2 years, this series is finally getting a conclusion and it’s probably the longest series that I was following at that moment.

The road to the last boss was pretty long as usual but the last boss battle was much longer than I expected. The mini bosses battle were probably the best part of these episodes, more than the last battle. It were “short” and more straightforward battles.

For the last boss, even thought it was good, it didn’t feel as emotionally strong as other bosses, especially because they decided to make it look weak in the first part, don’t know if that was a good way to start the last boss. The other reason was probably how long they tried to drag on. I wonder if they wanted to end the series in the episode 100.

Something that I found interesting it was that the names of some of the characters were not random stuff, it actually had a meaning, so I was surprised that after almost 100 episodes, I didn’t thought of the meaning of some of the names.

What I found a little sad was that in the last episode they didn’t play the first OP.

Overall, the series was pretty good, they used a lot of fillers but in a way that you are not sure if it’s a filler or not but at least the battles are enjoyable. My personal opinion is that it starts a little slow, scaled pretty fast but the end was a little disappointing. For me, the best fight in the entire series was against Baran. The quality was pretty good for an action series, the cast and music was good but probably the most outstanding thing is the voice acting of Dai, I think the seiyuu, who surprisingly is the same as Anya from Spy x Family, did a pretty good job not only with her voice range, but for the battle parts.

It had an open final so I wonder if it will have any new content some day. I’ll keep the A Tier as final rank.

Review: Warau Arsnotoria Sun!

Final rating: C Tier

Plot: The series is about the daily life of Arsnotoria and her group of friends living inside of a magical academy.

Opening: The OP song, which is sung by the main characters is good and it fits the concept of the series. The visuals are pretty good. Both the song and the visuals are pretty standard but the quality is high.

Art: The art is good.

Animation: The animation is pretty good, it’s not like there is too much action so I suppose that there is a lot of budget left to tryhard the animation a little. They even animated Arsnotoria’s ahoge.

Characters: Probably the most disappointing part of the series. I don’t think there is any changes in the characters, I’d even say that they are the same as the first episode, since there were no challenges or drama between them.
One thing that surprised me was that Kuno Misaki usually voices cheerful lolis, but for Ars, I think this is the first time she voices a more quiet loli, so was interesting to hear her voice acting, but I’d say that her cheerful voice has a best acting.

Story: The story is pretty chill, just the girls having fun every day. There is a pararell story which it gives a wider perspective of the serie’s setting and is the opposite of the cute part with the girls, giving some interesting contrast and giving some excitement while waiting both stories to crash.

Ending: The song and visuals are good.

Comment: The series itself is not bad but is pretty chill, so if you don’t like the type of series that it doesn’t seem that nothing is happening and there are cute girls, this could be for you. Not going to spoil the other part, but I’d say that don’t expect much of it. The quality is pretty high which is nice.
For me, the title should be “Warau Arsnotoria Sun Sun Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun~”

Review: Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

Final rating: B Tier

Plot: The series is about Desumi and Fudou becoming a couple, but they have to hide their relation because Desumi is one of the leaders of an evil organization and Fudou is in the hero who fights against them.

Opening: The OP song and visual are good. It’s been a while since I heard Yukari Tamura singing a duet.

Art: The art is good.

Animation: The animation looks good.

Characters: I was expecting the romance between the main characters, but I was surprised by the development of the other characters, especially from the members of Gekko, which it gave a little break so it won’t be only Desumi and Fudou.

Story: The story is pretty simple, is basically the combination between Romeo and Juliet with Power Rangers. The main battle between Gekko and Gelato 5 doesn’t have much development, so the main focus of this series is the romance between the characters and how Desumi and Fudou are trying to hide their relation while getting some challenging situations.

Ending: The ED song and visuals are good. I’m impressed that the group singing the ED was singing the OP of another series too and all adding that they have to dance each song too.

Comment: This series is just good, is pretty light and easy to watch while giving some tension to look forward for the next episode. If you are into romance, I’d recommend it if you just want to see happy couples.

Review: Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo 01 ~ 04

The series is about Michio, who is isekai’d to an fantasy world and these first episodes are about Michio finding a way to buy Roxanne, a slave.

Just from the OP, is clear that this series will have a BIG focus on fanservice and like Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai he Odekakechuu, it has censored/disturbing scenes every episode but I’d say that in this series is more explicit.

I watched only the first episode censored and the rest uncensored and I’d say that it wasn’t that necessary to watch the uncensored, at least until episode 4, since most of the scenes are just bad people being killed but for episode 1, I had to watch the uncensored version not because of the scenes, but for the dialogue that was censored. Usually they censor some words but in the censored version, like half of the dialogue between Michio and Allen was censored so I was curious of what were the words that they were using.

The art looks pretty good, especially for the fanservice part and the animation is looking good.

In these episodes we got the OP and ED. I was surprised to see Mikami Shiori being the voice of Roxanne and the OP singer, the song and animation are good.
The ED song and visuals were unexpected, I was surprised that the song being sung by Allen and Michio, so I expect that Michio will be buying more slaves. The song is pretty funny and the art and melody fits the song’s concept.

For episode 4, without spoiling too much, I will only say that it escalated faster than I expected. I was expecting the MC to be something more like Kinsou no Vermeil’s MC.

Overall, the first episodes were a little boring until episode 4, so I wonder how will the series go from here and if the will focus fanservice or the Labyrinth.

Review: Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu

Final rating: B Tier

Plot: The series is about Leon, who is isekai’d to the otome game world that he was forced to play by a sister as a random character. He tries to live a peaceful life but end up involved with the main characters.

Opening: The song is pretty good but the visuals are disappointing, it’s almost only art.

Art: The art is good. Is interesting that the art style of the main characters feels different from the one used with Leon.

Animation: The animation looks good with some minor CG elements.

Characters: I wasn’t expecting too much development for the characters but I was surprised that there were some changes in the characters, especially for Olivia, who has the biggest change in her role in the game.

Story: The story looks intriguing, it’s not very common to see the isekai to a visual novel game but this game is pretty crazy, so it gives a little more variation and genres to the series. There are some interesting things like the girl that is replacing Olivia’s place being probably Leon’s sister or how are the relation of the main characters of the game changing with the introduction of Leon and Marie.

Ending: The song is pretty good too and I’d say that it almost have more animation in the visuals than the OP.

Comment: It seems that it didn’t like this series too much, but for me, this series is a better version of Hamefura with a more solid plot and the main character actually looks more like a villain than Catarina and with the game having more elements like action, it helps to make the story longer. I’d recommend it to anyone who felt disappointed of Hamefura and who is looking something a little different from the usual Isekai and the usual hero MC.

Review: Shijou Saikyou no Daimaou, Murabito A ni Tensei suru

Final rating: B Tier

Plot: The series is about the life of the Demon Lord Varvatos, who for some reason decided to reincarnate into the future.

Opening: The OP song and visuals are good. I found the OP song pretty interesting, it’s a mix of a lot of music styles (being closer to metal) and it’s very different from the usual song that Oohashi Ayaka sings.

Art: The art looks good.

Animation: The animation is pretty decent.

Characters: The character development was better than expected (if I expected any development). I think there are a lot of characters that are likeable, even the MC got some development. Ireena’s voice can be a little annoying.

Story: I’d resume this series in, Action, Fantasy, OP MC and Harem. At least that is the impression that I got for the first episodes (or almost all the series). There are some fanservice but is not that much. Surprisingly, it got some very serious story related to the relation between the characters and the MC’s choice, which it makes it a little different from the usual action-fantasy series.

Ending: The song and visuals for the ED are good. The song starts a little weak but it gets better as the song goes. There is a delicious art in the ED.

Comment: In a nutshell, this series is “Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja” but better. Cuter girls and better plot. But the series isn’t too different from the usual Isekai series. There’s some interesting story for the last 4 or 5 episodes but if you like those type of series, I’d recommend it.

Review: Rikei ga Koi ni Ochita no de Shoumei shitemita. Heart

Final rating: B Tier

Plot: The series is the continuation of the story of Himeno and Yukimura trying to use science to prove if they are in love.

Opening: The OP song is good and a little slower than the one used last season, they used the same artist as expected. The visuals are good.

Art: The art is good, looks the same as the first season.

Animation: The animation looks good.

Characters: In this season, we got a lot of development in the relation between Himuro and Yukimura. I’d say their relation was accelerated at a very high speed, they are pretty much a couple now.
One of the highlights of the season is probably Kanade in the second half of the series. As probably one of the best girl in the series, she got more attention in this season.

Story: I have to admit that I didn’t like that much the first episodes with that couple but after that, it went to the usual stuff which actually was better. As I mentioned, in this season we got a LOT of development in the relation between the characters instead of the usual focus on Himuro and Yukimura or the little tease between Ena and Kouske. I was surprised that in the half of the series, I’d legit thought that it was the final.

Ending: The song and visuals are good. I wished that they kept the same artist (the guy sounds a lot like the guy of the previous song, I wonder if it’s the same person).

Comment: This season (after the first episodes) is actually better than the first season, it has the usual science stuff but there is actually some development in their relations, so is not the usual going on circles.

Preview: Summer 2022

The season has started, but by just looking, there are a lots of second + season series airing and a lot of them are high rated series, so this season is looking much stronger than Spring so I have high hopes since this is probably the most important season of the year.

I haven’t seen much about the new series and I haven’t a lot of time to be reviewing every episode (especially that I haven’t ended last season) but I’ll try to review as much as I can and I hope there are good new series out there too.

Review: Lycoris Recoil 01

There’s a secret government organization which it’s members fight against bad people to maintain peace. Takina, who was a member of the central branch of the organization, after disobeying orders, she’s sent to a random branch that just helps people.

Probably, most people will complain about Takina’s standard visual. I got the feeling that I have seen her in many series. I wonder if she’s just a recycled visual.

I like Chisato, she is my Shikimori of this season, she’s cute and cool but she’s more chill, so her coolness comes from her fight scenes. I thought her VA was Ueda Reina.

There’s not much information about what is going on or what is the main plot but at least I’m liking the characters and the action part.

The art looks good and the animation, except from some CG, it looks promising.

This episode we got, probably, the ED. It’s being a while since I heard of Sayuri’s song so it’s nice to listen to her songs again. The visuals are good. I’ll start the series in the B Tier.
